Have You Experienced the Joy of Revival?

Good Morning Friends,

If you follow Jesus, you already know the joy He has brought into your life, joy in forgiveness, joy in salvation, joy in the Spirit’s guidance, and joy in belonging to a God who loves you. So today we ask: Have you experienced the joy of revival?

Scripture Summary

In Nehemiah 8, Ezra reads the Law at the Water Gate, and the people listen attentively. Their first response is sorrow, but they are told instead to rejoice because understanding God’s Word brings strength and renewal.

In Luke 10, Jesus sends out seventy disciples to proclaim peace, heal, and announce that the Kingdom of God has come near. Their mission is simple, urgent, and rooted in trust.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:16, Paul gives the shortest command in Greek Scripture: “Rejoice always.”

In Job 19, Job declares with confidence, even in suffering, “I know that my Redeemer lives,” trusting that he will one day see God face‑to‑face.

Message: Today’s readings show that revival begins when God’s people return to His Word, respond to His call, and rediscover His joy. Ezra and Nehemiah lead the people to hear Scripture again — not in the Temple, but in the public square — and their renewed understanding brings both repentance and celebration. Revival is not merely sorrow for the past; it is joy in what God is doing now.

Jesus sends the seventy into the world with nothing but trust, peace, and the Good News. Their joy upon returning shows that evangelism is fueled not by comfort or convenience but by commitment and confidence in God’s presence.

Job reminds us that joy can deepen in suffering. Happiness may fade, but joy grows because it comes from the inside out, from knowing our Redeemer lives. Joy is the proof that our faith is real, and it is essential for sharing the Gospel. Revival spreads when God’s people respond to hardship with trust, hope, and love.

And So, As we prepare for World Communion Sunday, picture the world as Job did, under God’s rule, filled with Christ’s love, and renewed by the joy of redemption. Revival begins when we live as people who truly believe Jesus is alive and at work in us.

Pray we know the joy of Jesus and share it freely. Pray we understand joy comes from the inside out and is eternal. Pray we see the connection between joy and revival. Pray we worship God anywhere with grateful hearts. Pray we rejoice in God’s provision and faithfulness. Pray we recognize joy’s role in people accepting Christ. Pray we are confident in God’s reign as Job was. Pray that our joy leads us to mission, service, and love. Pray that our lives invite others into recovery, renewal, and revival.

Blessings,

John Lawson
