Are You Ready To Follow Jesus’ Love When Life Seems Unfair?

Good Morning Friends,

God’s offer is simple and stunning: new life not based on what we can do, but on what Jesus has already done. Like a wedding proposal, grace waits for our “Yes.” Yet we often resist because we want control. And when life feels unfair, we blame God, avoid responsibility, or hide behind shame. We want the Jesus‑way without the honest work of repentance, forgiveness, and love. But Scripture reminds us that God is not unfair. He delights in mercy, not punishment. What feels unfair is often our reluctance to surrender control, forgive others, or trust that God’s justice is wiser than ours. Like Peter, we learn that shame is healed only by love, and that following Jesus means letting the Spirit lead us where we would not go on our own. So put down anger, resentment, and the illusion of control. Pick up your cross. Are You Ready To Follow Jesus’ Love When Life Seems Unfair?

Scripture Summary: God declares that anyone who turns from sin and does what is right will live, and anyone who turns from righteousness to evil will die. God is not unfair; His justice is rooted in personal responsibility and His desire for repentance and life.

Ezekiel 18:21–28

Jesus teaches that true righteousness goes deeper than outward obedience. Anger, insults, and broken relationships matter. Reconciliation is essential before worship.

Matthew 5:20–26

Jesus rebukes Peter for resisting God’s plan, showing how easily we set our minds on human control instead of divine purpose.

Matthew 16:23

Jesus restores Peter through love and calls him to shepherd others, even though following Jesus will lead him where he would not choose to go.

John 21:17–19

God honors faithful service with joy and responsibility in His kingdom.

Matthew 25:21

Message: Ezekiel preached to stubborn people who believed God was unfair. Many today feel the same frustrated with suffering, disappointed by unanswered prayers, or convinced they could run life better than God. But salvation has never been about our control. Christ has done the work; our part is to trust, repent, and follow in love. We often fight the wrong battles—trying to earn God’s favor, clinging to shame, or demanding fairness on our terms. Yet Jesus shows us a better way: love that heals, restores, and frees. Peter’s story proves that failure is not final when love leads us back to Christ.

And So when life seems unfair, remember: Jesus was treated unfairly so that we might live. Trust Him. Follow Him. Love as He loved. Life may not feel fair, but God is good. The resurrection is God’s witness that hope is woven into the world. The New Covenant frees us from legalism and invites us into a relationship shaped by grace, not performance. We cannot legislate love, but we can live it.

Pray to be changed by grace, not law. Pray to let go of anger and accept the New Covenant of peace. Pray to trust the resurrection’s power to bring good out of evil. Pray for hope, reconciliation, forgiveness, and a heart open to the Spirit. Pray to stay faithful when life feels unfair and to work with Jesus for His glory.

Blessings,

John Lawson
