What Door Would We Like To Have Prayerfully Opened To the Presence Of the King?

Good Morning Friends,

There are many doors in our lives. Some mark keystone moments that shape our core memories; others help us recall people and seasons long past. Whether they grant admittance, offer protection, or stand as barriers, these “doors” become part of who we are. How we view them matters, because there will be days when we cannot take another step without help—days when we need a door opened that we cannot open alone. Like Queen Esther approaching the throne, we must learn to ask wisely and courageously. Today we take an honest look at the door of prayer, the doorway that brings us—and the places we pray—closer to heaven. Prayer opens possibilities and closes harmful patterns. Sometimes we walk boldly; other times we reach out humbly, hoping the door will open. As we meditate on the Lord’s Prayer, we seek the one door Jesus Himself opens so we may find peace. This is no “knock‑knock” joke. We truly want to know who stands behind the next gateway. So we ask: What door would we like to have prayerfully opened to the presence of the King?

Scripture: Revelation 3:20 — Jesus stands at the door and knocks.Psalm 91:4 — God shelters us under His wings.Luke 11:9–13; Matthew 7:7–12 — Ask, seek, knock; the Father gives good gifts.Esther 5:1–14 — Esther approaches the king with courage and wisdom.Psalm 138:1–6 — God regards the lowly and strengthens the faithful.

Message: Today’s question is not only about physical places but about the spiritual thresholds where memory, longing, regret, and hope meet. These are the inner doorways where we encounter God beyond our five senses. Each of us knows the slow wearing away of the “doorframe” of the soul. Like the Mezuzah reminds us, we are called to love God with heart, mind, and strength—and to ask God to rebuild our gateway so that what is old does not block what is new. We often ask God to open new doors, but sometimes we miss the point: Jesus is the door. We want Him to enter our doorway and stop there, instead of entering His. We replace worn handles and knobs—even in worship—yet the deeper truth remains: our bodies, families, communities, and legacies all fade. But there is another door, one that leads to transformed life. When we are weary, we enter God’s rest. When our service is complete, we enter the door of new life. There are two sides to every door, and by grace we find Jesus and the Holy Spirit on both. The sheepgate of prayer has no locks—only Jesus.

And So spend time with Him when He knocks at the door of your experience. And be bold enough to knock on His. Be patient. Let your relationship with God help you see Christ in others. Drink deeply from the strength of the Body of Christ, and God will open the door of prayer. Life hinges on whether we allow Jesus to open the door of our hearts. Some doors we can open; others require divine help. Some prayers we choose; others are chosen for us. Open the ones that lead to love and life. Like Esther, we go to the King even when unsummoned—boldly, risking much, trusting God’s righteousness. And like Jesus, Jonah, and Esther on the third day, we find salvation in God’s timing and God’s love. The goal is to ascend to the throne of the heart of love—not to be the means of our own destruction, but to love.

Pray for an Identity in Christ- Pray we remember what is important. Pray Jesus remember us.Pray we abide with Christ forever, knowing He stands at the door.Pray we accept every divine overture.Pray we open the door of our lives to Christ.Pray we realize Jesus is our Sabbath rest.Pray we do not limit our communication with God to a single place.

Pray for a Calling in Christ-Pray our work opens doors that glorify God. Pray we seek, ask, and remember. Pray we enter His rest and His work at the right time. Pray we become inspired rather than retired. Pray we pass through the door of service in the community. Pray faithful duties lead to greater opportunities. Pray we be more than temporary vessels.

Pray for Perseverance-Pray Jesus opens the door to our hearts. Pray we encourage other seekers. Pray we enter and never close doors of opportunity, unity, and service. Pray we find timeless rest in God’s sheltering arms.

Pray for Hope- Pray we come to the door of heaven and Christ welcomes us home.Pray that on the appointed day we greet Jesus on the throne and know love divine.

Blessings,

John Lawson
