Are We Prepared To Be A Positive Influence That Reflects God’s Power?

Good Morning Friends,

As Christians, we are to experience true transformation.  On Friday I wrote a devotional on not being pressured, still we may have a role to play in the Holy Spirit pressuring us. So today we ask: Are We Prepared To Be A Positive Influence That Reflects God’s Power?

Scripture:1 Corinthians 2:1–5; Matthew 5:13–16; Isaiah 58:7–10

Message: God calls us to a high standard of conduct and to be instruments of blessing. Sometimes our efforts bear immediate fruit; other times they unfold slowly. What matters is our authenticity, our trust in God, and our willingness to let the Spirit work through us. We are not promised perfection. We will sometimes misjudge, misunderstand, or act out of pride. But we are promised the power of Christ—power that brings peace, clarity, and the ability to discern our motives so we may honor God. In Christ we have forgiveness, purpose, and the indwelling Holy Spirit. We carry resurrection power, not for our own glory, but to reflect Jesus as salt and light in the world. If we lose sight of this calling, we lose our flavor. But when we surrender to the Spirit—through love, honesty, fellowship, and grace—we become who we were made to be. In giving ourselves away, we receive what we need to live abundantly. God is faithful. God forms us. God teaches us how to love.

And So, let your light shine with pure motives. Be a seasoning that preserves, a lamp that reveals truth, a presence that brings hope. Let your charity bear fruit. Let your life testify that with God, we always have enough. Like fasting, this requires intention, repentance, and a renewed rhythm of grace.

Pray with thanksgiving for the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit. Pray we do not miss anything God desires for us. Pray for wisdom to follow the Spirit’s promptings and for faith to trust Christ’s mind over our own. Pray for forgiveness, clarity, and love. Pray that our giving, fasting, and praying restore the pace and texture of our lives. Pray that we live as authentic salt and light, serving God with pure hearts and shining for His glory.

Blessings,

John Lawson
