Good Morning Friends,
Scripture often tells stories that seem to end—only to open into something new. Out of old stories, God plants new ones. Out of the darkness of the cross, Christ plants the seed of our salvation. This is the pattern of Scripture, the pattern of Jesus, and the pattern of creation itself: God’s life keeps breaking through. At the cross, Jesus steps beyond time and place, sowing forgiveness yesterday, today, and tomorrow. However, if we are to bear fruit for His Kingdom, we must carry His seed within us. Do you have God’s saving seed?
Scripture:
• “He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” — Genesis 3:15
• Jacob wrestles with God and receives a new name—Israel. — Genesis 32:22–31
• Christ becomes a curse for us so the promise might come to all. — Galatians 3:13–16
• “Goodness is the harvest from seeds the peacemakers plant.” — James 3:18
• “Those who sow righteousness get a true reward.” — Proverbs 11:18
• “Go… make disciples… I am with you always.” — Matthew 28:19–20
Message: Many of God’s servants wrestled with Him—Moses, Jonah, Paul, Elijah, Gideon. Jacob wrestles too, and in that struggle, he is humbled, renamed, and blessed. His story teaches us that wrestling with God is not a sign of failure but a path to transformation. When we cling to God, even limping, we receive a new identity and a new calling.Today’s scriptures remind us that spiritual leadership, faithfulness, and perseverance all begin with God’s seed planted in us. We keep the message alive by tending the garden of our hearts, nurturing the next generation, and carrying out Christ’s Great Commission. To receive God’s blessing, we must receive, read, reflect on, relate to, and respond to His Word. Let the Word—and the Word made flesh—grow in you, shape you, and bear fruit through you.
And So, we are mortal clay, yet God molds us and plants in us a seed that reaches toward eternity. So, plant the seeds. Tend the garden. Reap the harvest. Those who sow love will harvest friendship. Those who sow faith will harvest blessings. Those who sow Christ’s grace will harvest the fruits of God’s eternal Kingdom.
Pray we sow seeds of hope. Pray the seed of the Word bears fruit in us. Pray that our faith grows like a mustard seed. Pray our hearts become good soil for God’s love. Pray that we share our faith with compassion and courage. Pray we sow the good news of God’s grace to His glory.
Blessings,
John Lawson
