How Do You Heal A Broken Heart?
Good Morning Friends,
God has a way of blessing those who trust in Him with their health, wealth and happiness. But sometimes tragedies happen. Life gets out of control. Sometimes life is beyond us and uncertain. But it is never beyond God. So this morning we seek to learn that there is a treasure in trusting in His love. Today we are surprised by the joy of His severe mercy. Friends, trust in the treasure of His provision, His knowledge, His security… Trust in His grace and peace, knowing that in all things that matter, God is in control and can guide our steps to receive inner healing and to minister to others so that they might be set free.
With that in mind we hope to discover this morning more about God’s ways as we ask: How Do You Heal A Broken Heart?
Scripture: Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning, for in you I put my trust. Teach me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
Psalm 143:8 (NRSV)
Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.
James 5:16 (NRSV)
He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3 (NRSV)
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,
Luke 4:18 (NRSV)
for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NRSV)
My child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and abundant welfare they will give you. Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:1-6 (NRSV)
Message: At some point in everyone’s life you will meet someone with a broken heart or have a broken heart. When you do, it would be wise not to assume you know it all. Pangs of the heart formed by an unhealthy soul need a spiritual intervention. Listen to a voice in the wilderness of your life calling you to prepare for forgiveness so God can use your fruits to be the purpose He intends for you in your daily living. Listen for God to direct your ways in a life that honors Him. That is the way to live well and to live in His kingdom that never ends. Like a child race to Him. Use your heart; your broken heart. Don’t try too hard to figure it all out in your head. Just be loyal and love His ways. Ask Him for help in this work and He will give it. He will make your path straight. What counts is your life. What must change is your life…. the potholes filled, the detours straightened out, the ruts paved over, every bump smoothed. So make your life count…. Let go and let God change you. Make a place for Him in your life so you can celebrate in the parade of God’s faithful on His road to salvation. Trust in Him. Acknowledge God. Let Jesus be your answer to the question. Believe, forgive and be healed.
Pray we realize that God has taken all our wounds, pain, hurts and sorrow to the cross so that we might be freed. Pray we release those damaging emotions in the healing hands of Jesus who desires to heal us. Pray the power of the Holy Spirit gives us the power to let go of our pain so our broken hearts might be healed. Pray we realize that God loves us not because of what we have or have not done but because of who God is. Pray we open up to love so that we might be healed. Pray we realize that God wants to restore our souls from all the damage that has been done to us so that our minds might be healthy.
Pray we extend forgiveness towards those who have hurt us. Pray we realize our best self in Christ. Pray we stop feeding on lies of insecurity, guilt, and emotional anguish and realize that Jesus will bear it all. Pray we not deny the very work of the cross but see ourselves as Jesus sees us. Pray we therefor forgive ourselves. Pray we confront the emotional pain in us and turn it over to Jesus so our broken hearts might be healed. Pray we be delivered from all those negative situations influencing our minds, wills and emotions, and give authority over them to Jesus.
Blessings,
