Do You Have A Lasting Living Legacy?

Do You Have A Lasting Living Legacy?

Good Morning Friends,

Do you have a dream for the people in the place where you live? Martin Luther King did. John F. Kennedy did. We do so need to embrace a unifying dream today. The Bible is filled with stories of dreams and dreamers. None of them is more important than Jesus’ extraordinary dream for us that, though love shared, we will become united in and through everything that God has destined us to be. Here we dream of a world that is a friend of grace…we dream to experience the Kingdom where we are woven into a body…a body  that sees vision through the eyes of love…love for each other. Here God places within our hopes and dreams that which He wants to fulfill for us.
And here when we dream of God’s dream for us… to do big things together… we join in service. Do You Have A Lasting Living Legacy?

Scripture: The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

Galatians 5:6 (NIV)

For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1 John 3:11 (NRSV)

We know love by this that he laid down his life for us–and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.

1 John 3:16-18 (NRSV)

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NRSV)

Message: We do so love fairy tale endings…they resonant with us and we are enchanted by them. The essential part of all of them is transformation…in the hope beyond hope that an ugly duckling would become a beautiful swan…that a frog would become a prince…that an ogre would become…well a better ogre. The deepest yearning of the human heart is reflected in the stories of fairy tale characters. And here too in the striving and the hope and the work of life we live in the happily ever after…here we are transformed by love… here we leave a legacy of a dream come true. That is the essential part of any great story …it is the story of Christianity and it is being played out for those who believe that God is able to do all that we ask or think through a power that works in us for His glory to all generations….forever and ever. And it is not a fairytale. It is not a grand palace but a house of living stones built with a vision of the love of community in the Spirit of Christ. That is something that will last.

Pray with praise for a God who joins us in putting the dream to the test. Pray we join with Him in reaching people with the love of God. Pray we connect others in loving relationships. Pray we help each other to grow in faith. Pray we challenge each other to discover the gifts that God has given us to share. Pray we glorify God with our lives through evangelism… fellowship…discipleship…ministry…and worship. Pray that we realize that God wants to give us His best, but that we need to position ourselves within His will in order to receive the blessing. Pray we realize that we have been freed for a purpose. Pray we realize we are to invest in people with the love of Jesus so the legacy of God’s mark on the world not be in vain. Pray we pray to God because He is worthy of worship. Pray that the time we spend with God in prayer changes us and makes us more like Christ.

Blessings,

John Lawson
