Do You Have The Balance Of A Three-legged Stool?

Do You Have The Balance Of
A Three-legged Stool?

Good Morning Friends,

If you believe in Christ then you are destined for redemption… to experience the love, holiness, and the Spirit of a just God so that you will serve His purpose and be balanced on the foundation of an ethical life. The journey is not easy. You will need to find rest in the Lord. Do You Have The Balance Of
A Three-legged Stool?

Scripture: 28’Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’

Matthew 11:28 (NRSV)

11A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but an accurate weight is his delight.

Proverbs 11:1 (NRSV)Top of Form

12Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?

Isaiah 40:12 (NRSV)Top of FormBottom of Form

12Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life, to which you were called and for which you made* the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13In the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you 14to keep the commandment without spot or blame until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which he will bring about at the right time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords. 16It is he alone who has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to him be honour and eternal dominion. Amen.17 As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share, 19thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that really is life.

1 Timothy 6:12-19 (NRSV)

Message: Are you listening to the Lord in making your decisions? If you are you might just find the grace of the balance in the Trinity reflected in your own life. Of course the past can guide us and the future, one of hope, can bring us, but it is God with us…love with us that shows us how to glorify God on the journey. The Golden Rule is infinity less cumbersome but it somehow seems inadequate. So we stand in the creative tension of this moment in the balance between the law and grace, between the covenant promises and the commandments, between faith and works, between prosperity and simplicity, between enjoying and enduring, between the Word and the Spirit, between the gifts of the Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit, between the internal and the external, between quantity and quality, between separation and association, between zeal and wisdom and finally we have to decide… to act in the tension between the love of comfort and the love of discipline. Here we seek the balance of the Trinity. Where reason is balanced with faith and an action of God in and through men. Here we struggle with the hope the impossible is possible…that three might become one.

Pray we not lose our balance and fall. Pray we are balanced in the mystery of Jesus- His divinity and his humanity.  Pray Christ is our yardstick where the whole is measured. Pray God become the foundation for our future. Pray the Father, Son and Holy Spirit work together to give us balance and rest on our journey. Pray Reason, Logic and Logos…Holiness, Justice and Love become balanced. Pray in our struggle to understand and to apply these principles…these relationships… we are not caught in paralysis when good things are in conflict. Pray today’s devotional and scripture gives us some guidance on living a Godly life. Pray it leads us to the conclusion that in our life there is no spiritual learning without obedience to the redeemer, no discipleship without love of the creator, no experience of the Spirit without faith in the sustainer. Pray we avoid the precarious pitfalls of life. Pray we have a firm foundation in a Trinity that engages our heart, mind and spirit in action. Pray we pursue what God has approved, a strong faith, a life that can endure, combined with a gentleness showing forth love. Pray we fight the good fight of faith embracing the cross, and fighting against complacency, sin, doubt and fear with involvement, sacrifice and effort. Pray even as we struggle towards the goal of being perfect to gain the crown of true life eternal we find rest. Pray we count life or death gain because we hold on to the foundation of a future kingdom. Pray we take hold of the eternal life we were called to when we confessed our belief. Pray we become whole as we rest in the perfect balance of a Triune God.

Blessings,
