Are You Walking With Jesus?
Good Morning Friends,
As I am typing this it is quite and dark outside and it makes me aware that when we walk with God in His light we discover far more than we ever even knew to ask. When we begin to follow Jesus in the light we discover that God does not caste a shifting shadow. Indeed life can get rough, but as Christians we have access to an unshakable joy and a supernatural peace and a holy mindset that pleases God. I experience it as I hike with my family…as I read scripture. Here I ask Jesus to be part of the journey. Here I take the talk of our concerns to Him in prayer and He in turn answers with an opportunity for us as a family to experience Him on the journey. Are You Walking With
Jesus?

4Rejoice* in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.*
5Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, beloved,* whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about* these things. 9Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:4-9 (NRSV)
12And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people.
Leviticus 26:12
1Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers;2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. 3 They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. 4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God,
Ephesians 2:19 (NRSV)
Message: Who are you really deep inside? What is your identity? I think we are what God’s Word says we are. We are forgiven. We are redeemed. We are righteous through the righteousness of God in Christ…joint heirs with Jesus. We are children of God and our inheritance is greater than we can imagine. Friends, everybody wants to be somebody. Understand that we do not need to try to become someone or something we already are. We have received the Spirit of adoption. We are not just part of the family, but sons and daughters of the Father. We are heirs of the kingdom of God. So friends, do not be anxious. Pray about everything. Know that our thoughts lead us to actions and our actions to habits, and our habits to character and our character to our future. Be thankful on this journey and Jesus will bring you peace, joy and His righteous presence. Nothing is more foolish than trying to travel through this life without the light of Christ and His love. Without the light of the Word of God lighting our path and showing us the way we are doomed to stumble. So keep your lights shining. It calls us to walk with God and to turn on the light of truth, so we can be moral beings that love God and His justice…beings with a healthy doubt that live happily in the space between dreams and authority and action of the spirit. Be silent and know that God watches over you. In Him you move, breath and have your being. Awake. You cannot just go do what you want and go to heaven. It does not work that way. Let scripture take us on a journey, a quiet walk in His steps.
Pray we make the most of our walk with God. Pray we are influenced by God. Pray we delight in the Word of God. Pray we meditate on scripture. Pray our character is changed from the inside out. Pray we become fruitful, durable and prosperous spiritually. Pray we realize that our destiny is determined by our choices. Pray we allow God’s Spirit to lead us. Pray that we realize that with God on our side we cannot lose in the things that really matter. Pray we walk in a relationship of love with God and with each other as a family. Pray we act like we are children of God. Pray we shod our feet with the preparation of peace so we might be stable in our walk with God. Pray we take joy in a healthy walk with God.
Blessings,
John Lawson
