Our Frailty, God’s Faithfulness and Life’s Fruitfulness

Our Frailty, God’s Faithfulness and Life’s Fruitfulness

Good Morning Friends,

As in school, one’s grades may change dependent on what the teachers are counting. When it comes to the rubric of life, earthly values of education, position and wealth can become superfluous in what we really need to be pursuing. We need something that lasts…something that moves us from a focus on worldly stuff. We need something that frees us. Friends, real success is found in the face of Our Frailty, God’s Faithfulness and Life’s Fruitfulness.

Scripture: Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven . . . For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:20-21 (NRSV)

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling– if indeed, when we have taken it off we will not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan under our burden, because we wish not to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord– for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil.

2 Corinthians 5:1-10 (NRSV)

Message: Have you seen someone die? Have you experienced someone…perhaps someone you love… taking their last breath? If you have then you know that these bodies of ours are frail. Yet perhaps it is in the overthrow of this physical hierarchy…perhaps it is in our little deaths that we embrace faith in a way that sets us free to produce fruits to be shared. Friends, the revolution is unending and the upheaval of life in the face of the prison walls that would contain us needs to be transformed through faith. Store up the fruits of loving relationships for they are eternal. Sharing God’s love will set you free.

Pray for more than success. Pray for more than significance. Pray for sanctification where the things we learn have a use. Pray we live our faith. Pray we stand firm in our faith. Pray we spread our faith. Pray this journey of mind and spirit blesses others. Pray we leave behind the world’s chains before we take our last breath. Pray we be more interested in being leavers rather than takers. Pray we treasure God’s faithfulness. Pray we are generous in the good works of a life worth living.
Pray that Jesus makes Himself known to others through our lives. Pray the Holy Spirit bring change in our lives that pleases the Lord and bears great fruit.

Blessings,

John Lawson
