Transformed by the Change Agent

Transformed by the Change Agent

Good Morning Friends,

We have a long term house renovation plan. The problem is that every time we brighten up one space it makes another look dinger. The same is with us. Really God has taught us to walk a certain way and to talk a certain way and when we submit a part of us gets better but then by contrast the part not changed looks worse. Finally we realize that if our form is to follow our function we must be Transformed by the Change Agent.

Scripture: [God] who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King. Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, who brings out chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick: Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. The wild animals will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches; for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people, the people whom I formed for myself so that they might declare my praise.

Isaiah 43:15-21 (NRSV)

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

John 14:2 (KJV)

Message: Have you seen the popular HGTV entertainment show Love It of List It? The premise is really one of competition between a real estate agent and a home designer/ renovator. The same basic pattern plays out each week in the dramatized lives of home owners with a problem with the place they live. Always it seems the renovation plan is not trusted by the homeowners and the first house that is shown them as an alternative they hate. Finally they have to choose between a dream home and their renovation which had to be compromised because of some construction problem that they ran into on the way. Well most of the time in the end they choose to love it, but I think that may be because the dream home they are offered is not actually for sale. Now moving from the cynical to the serious. That place Jesus has prepared for us… it came with a cost but is not for sale either. Some things we just have to wait for. You see God has made a promise to bring about change and we can be examples and agents of this change with Jesus or victims of it. Of course when it comes to our souls, we discover there are always unintended consequences of things not done perfectly to completion. It is here we discover that the only way to survive is to join with God to help accomplish the purpose placed in us that renovates us not only one sin at a time but begins to transform us when we repent of the very nature of our sin. Friends, when we repent of our very nature, then transformation begins, our sin itself is forgiven and removed and that is a reality that is more than just show. You see, God wants to do a new thing in your life. So change your focus and stop looking behind and start looking ahead. God has already set into motion a direction and purpose for your life. It is a matter of the heart. So, when it comes to the place you live forever, you have a choice, will you love it or list it?

Pray we not be victims of change. Pray God use us as agents of change. Pray we are not anxious about what is going to happen next. Pray we have patience and endurance. Pray we praise God for the divine make over brought to beautiful completion. Pray we know that God is the author and finisher of our faith. Pray we live in the house of the Lord forever. Pray we make wise choices.

Blessings,

John Lawson
