Cheer for all Super Winners!
Good Morning Friends,
Was God in the commercials during the game? Well Tebow finally got a contract and it was with T Mobile….Genetic engineering went humorously bizarre with a new breed of dog and some guy got to meet a llama and play Ping-Pong with Arnold in a beer commercial…. and then there was the car commercial with angel wings and rainbows….something was wrong about that one… and Bob Dylan selling cars for Detroit and a politician shooting hoops as a challenge to the President and an 80’s review at Radio Shack and a little kid lassoing a bag of Doritos. And while most people would say that God did not play a role in last night’s game outcome and some were saying that a Hail Mary only works in football and it would not have been any good last night anyway. I say God is at work and we just do not have a clue as to what is happening for God’s game is the only one that really counts and God’s ways are beyond our understanding. Friends, there are many Christians on both the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Bronco’s football teams so here is a Cheer for all Super Winners!
Scripture: Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12-14
Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one. So I do not run aimlessly, nor do I box as though beating the air; but I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
How great is God–beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out.
Job 36:26 (NIV)
Message: Last night a trophy was presented and rings awarded and cash given and glory bestowed and more advertising contracts negotiated and a team from Seattle will have bragging rights for perhaps more than a year. But ten of those players from the Seattle Seahawks will gather around in a room deep inside the team’s headquarters in Renton, Washington, carrying Bibles, notebooks and pens, dressed in their team-issued blue-and-gray sweatpants and T-shirts for an hour-long Bible study. Here you can learn with them that there is a greater game than the Super Bowl. They are learning of importance of knowing the key player on the field and you can maybe use this link to engage others. You see you have the opportunity to play for rewards even more formidable than the ones given to Super Bowl winners. You can win a prize that will never dim. Friends last night Seattle beat up on Denver but the outcome to an even more important game is up to the individual players if they are willing to get in the game.
Pray we become Super Bowl Christians. Pray we have a desire and are willing to discipline ourselves. Pray we are focused and committed to something of utmost importance. Pray we are willing to make sacrifices. Pray we have the will and the character to play in the only game that really counts.
Blessings,
John Lawson
