A Light that Keeps on Shinning.
Good Morning Friends,
Well, we packed up the Christmas ornaments and they are ready to go back up to the attic and the Christmas trees are down as well. All the lights have been stored away and as I sort out the experience I am looking for the connection between the experience of Christmas and the love and light of daily living…A Light that Keeps on Shinning.
Scripture: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:5 (NIV)
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
(NRSV)
Message: Martin Luther King, Jr. said that, “Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Plato said that, “We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” William Shakespeare said, “Now, God be praised, that to believing souls gives light in darkness, comfort in despair.” Mother Teresa said, “Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.” And I say that Jesus is the light of the world and through the Holy Spirit He can shine through you into a world in desperate need of light.
Pray we have a God’s eye view of Christmas. Pray we see Christmas as not an event in the past but as a fulfillment of a plan for the present and future that prompts our light to shine. Pray for a visible manifestation of God in each of our lives. Pray we follow the star that lights the Gospel message in us. Pray we keep the light shining for Christ lighting the way for others.
Blessings,
John Lawson
