Something Beautiful for God
Good Morning Friends,
The art of living is to get the message of what God is doing in our time and to not be trapped energy in the terrible disconnect that is often the flawed design of the institutional organization of what is called “church” but fails to be a living organism. Look for the organic language of love and community that instructs and grows as a living witness.
Here the Jesus who lives and connects spiritual values and physical sacrament into a seamless reality, channeled in God’s creative force, gives us an example of the things for which we truly hunger. Here in the harvest of life it is more a drama of God’s making than a process of nature. The thing is that when we swim upstream against our normal nature, we can join our creator and others of His creatures in the creating of a loving community. The goal is not to just to feast off the provisions of our Sustainer but in recognizing the Incarnate in others and join them in making Something Beautiful for God.
Scripture:How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’ Listen!
Isaiah 52:7… (NRSV)
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
1 Peter 3:4 (NIV)
Message: We belong to each other as a spiritual family. Our lives are as threads of light in the fabric of community connecting us but also revealing God’s beauty. It is the dimension of love to this social work of interaction one with another that binds us into a beautiful fabric of His Story. Here we become His words in the story and are His workmanship in a worship that is unending! Here He with us is able to take what we think is ugly and useless and turn it into something beautiful and magnificent! No matter where we are in life’s journey God can make a beautiful song, a beautiful tapestry, a beautiful story, always something beautiful out of our lives! Friends, know you are beautiful because you have been made in the image of God.
Pray we see the sacred in each other. Pray we resist the power to control but only claim power to connect. Pray we see the image of God in the inner beauty of others. Pray we cultivate beauty in creative acts of connection. Pray we rejoice in the simple beauty of the good news of God’s love in us as it transforms communities from the inside out into places of love and great worth in God’s sight. Pray God use us to breathe life into organizations that need to become organisms reflecting the unity of the spirit in Christ.
Blessings,
John Lawson
