Picture Perfect

Picture Perfect
Good Morning Friends,
During our vacation we used our I-Phones to capture some of the experiences. A few of them even seemed like they could go into a coffee table book. Even though I know the quality would need to be better, they seemed Picture Perfect.
Scripture: Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:26-27 (NIV)
Soon afterward she went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him.  As he approached the gate of the town, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his mother’s only son, and she was a widow; and with her was a large crowd from the town.  When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’  Then he came forward and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, ‘Young man, I say to you, rise!’  The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.  Fear seized all of them; and they glorified God, saying, ‘A great prophet has risen among us!’ and ‘God has looked favorably on his people!’ This word about him spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding country.
Luke 7:11-17 (NRSVA)
Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.
Psalm 139:16 (NRSV)
Message: God is the creator of life and everything that is in it. But what is special about humans is that we were made in the image of God formed by God’s own hands. Life is sacred. Each and every one therefor has value. Jesus in his ministry constantly showed his concern for life to those people would devalue. He reaches out to the woman caught in adultery to give her acceptance and forgiveness. Along a dusty road Jesus gives sight to a blind Bartimaeus. Jesus brings the widow’s only son back to life. The man living in the tombs was rejected by others but Jesus reaches out and heals him of his demons. Jesus reaches out to the least, last and lost and so should we. It is the purpose for which we have been made. Loving God, ourselves and one another makes a perfect picture. I will send you a picture if you like but you might want to start by looking in the mirror.
Pray we know that God cares about us. Pray we get a closer glimpse of what it means to be created in the image of God. Pray we realize that God finds value in each of us. Pray we discover with joy what is written about us in the book of life.
