Trust the Potter

Trust the Potter
Good Morning Friends,
Broken relationships with family members are like broken pottery that have lost their function. Perhaps you have felt the pain as the sharp edges cut your emotions. The 750 youth in Florida awaiting Foster Care have to face this reality…their care givers too. The nearly 300 single fathers and more than 600 single mothers in Immokalee caring for children have to face it. The reality is these men and women of dust are hoping for the image of heaven in their lives to be restored. Perhaps they need a little nudging, support and encouragement to Trust the Potter.
Scripture: Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.
Isaiah 64:8 (NIV)
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Exodus 20:12 (NIV)
My child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and abundant welfare they will give you. Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:1-6 (NRSV)
Message: Perhaps you have it on your doorposts as a reminder that God opens and closes doors. It is even on all our money here in the United States. God’s will is in the Word. The age old problem is whether we will put our greatest trust in the Potter to restore us. Friends, God restored Job. God restored the father and the prodigal son. God restored Jacob and Esau. God the Potter can reconcile you too. Friends, let the Potter remold you. There is no other way but to trust. Is God calling you to serve?
Pray we do not lean on our own understanding. Pray we are committed to God’s purposes. Pray we are controlled by God’s will. Pray we realize that there is no other way but to trust in God. Pray more fathers develop the skills to influence their children for the Lord. Pray we realize that children are both a blessing and a responsibility. Pray we are put back on the potter’s wheel. Pray we realize that God has the right and ability to reshape, reform and remake us.
Blessings,
John Lawson
